Proclamation in Honor of Centennial Birthday

Plainville town manager Mr. Robert E. Lee presented Mr. Al Johnson with a proclamation at his centennial birthday celebration brunch at Day-Break. Surrounded by family and friends proclamations were presented from the State of CT as well as best wishes from President Obama. Mr. Johnsons’s connection to Day-Break goes back many years ago as his step grandfather Mr. Campbell was responsible for digging the cellar for the building over 100 years ago. As a lifetime resident of Plainville Mr. Johnson and his family reflected on the many celebrations and good times enjoyed at this location when it was the Wrights Tavern or the Bustop Discotheque. They recalled that both Duke Ellington (1/14/1955) and Johnny Mathis had played at this very location. After receiving the proclamation Al stated that he was grateful for the honor and recognition as it is something that “the average person will never experience in their lifetimes” We wish Al continued good health and spirits.
